5 Skills to Learn Before Starting Dropshipping Business

In this Dropshipping article, I am going to explain the top 5 skills that you are going to need while working on the dropshipping business. If you don’t have these skills then you can hire freelancers to complete these tasks. But obviously you are starting this business with a tight budget. So let me give you some details which can be really helpful for you to understand everything related to the dropshipping business.

Shopify Website Development

I know it sounds really hard that you need to learn a skill that needs website development. But don’t worry. Just read more. Basically you are going to use the Shopify Platform for dropshipping. 

Do you know that Shopify Website Creation is easier than WordPress? You can create your own Shopify website with pre-built templates. There are some videos on YouTube that can teach you to make your own Shopify website in just 20 minutes. Yes, you heard it right. 

When I started on Shopify, I watched a lot of videos. One of the videos that helped me to create my Shopify store in just 20 minutes. The store looks really great because I used their free debut theme and edit that theme to make it really amazing and beautiful.

So this is the first skill that you need to learn to get started with Dropshipping. You can also hire someone from Fiverr or Upwork to make these things for you. But they charge a lot. So I suggest you learn this skill and you are good to go. 

One more thing, This Shopify Website Development part is the easiest part of Dropshipping. More technical skills are below.

Product Listing on your Shopify Dropshipping Website

After creating a store you are going to add products to it. There are two ways to add products to your Store. It depends, who is your supplier? If you are grabbing products from AliExpress, (which most people do) then you can do it easily with Oberlo Plugin. 

It is really easy to import products from Oberlo to Directly your Store. This method is useful if your Supplier is from AliExpress. But what if your supplier is not from AliExpress? Here is the problem.

If your supplier is not from AliExpress then you have to add the products on your Shopify store manually. It is because Oberlo supports a very limited number of suppliers. You have to learn this skill as well. It is just Data Entry Work. You can learn this skill easily in an hour.

Product Hunting

This is the most technical part. You can’t sell those products that are easily available on Amazon, eBay, or Walmart, etc. 

Most of the people try to check the product on Amazon, eBay, or Walmart before purchasing from your store. It is because they don’t trust your store.

You can increase the trust of your store by making a brand. People trust the brand and they prefer to purchase products from brands on Higher Prices. 

So in product hunting skills, you are going to find a product that is going to sell. There are several methods from which you can identify which product is selling and which product you don’t have to choose. 

Let me give you 3 methods to check if the product is selling or not. 

1- Facebook Ad Library Method

Most of the dropshipping websites get traffic from Facebook ads. Try to find dropshipping products in Facebook ads Library. Let me explain that method to you. 

  • Search “50% OFF TODAY” in Facebook Search
  • Click on Video Section
  • Set the Date Posted to “This Week”
  • Check the Videos that have a lot of views.
  • Now you have to Open Facebook Ad Library (Search Facebook Ad Library in Google)
  • Then you can Copy the Page name of That Video
  • Paste it to Facebook Ad Library
  • You will see how many ads that the store is running. 

With this method, you can get the idea of which product is getting orders and which product is not. It is obvious that no one is going to run ads on Facebook if the product is not giving them sales. 

2- Dropshipping Center in AliExpress:

After creating an account on AliExpress you have to unlock the Dropshipping Center in AliExpress. The simple way to unlock that center is to Search “AliExpress Dropshipping Center”  in Google and click on the link that appears. 

Make sure you are login to your account. After clicking, you will see a new dashboard related to dropshipping. 

You have the option to check the trending products. Filter the products according to your need easily, and see which type of products are selling well in your category. 

3- (Bitly+) Method

Mostly store owners use Bitly to Shorten their store link. There you have the opportunity to see if they are getting clicks on their website or not. Let’s take an example of how you can identify the results. 

Suppose this is the Bitly Shorten link of that Store.

Just add + at the end of that link and you will see the results of how many clicks that bitly link got. 

You can try this method trick by finding any product’s URL from Facebook.

Order Processing

When you initially start working on this business, you don’t get a lot of orders in your store. You can easily process your orders on a daily basis because you don’t have enough orders.

When you understand the business and now you are getting 100’s of orders on a daily basis. Now at this time, you have to find a person that can process orders on your Shopify Store because you have more important things to focus on. What are these important things? Read the next topic.

Marketing of your Dropshipping Store

This is one of the most important parts of your Dropshipping Business. If you want to run your business to the next level then you need to Learn Marketing. 

Mostly People use Facebook Ads for their Dropshipping Business. This is the most tricky thing because in this method you spend your money. If you spend money on something that doesn’t sell then you are going to lose all your money. 

You have to run multiple ads to see which ad is converting and which ad is not getting you sales. You might be running more than 5 ads to see which ad works best for your business. 

Drop-Shipping is only based on Testing. You have to test a lot of products and then finally you find out the winning product. 

But you have the chance to increase your success in finding a winning product by applying my Product Hunting Method Mentioned above.

Shopify Virtual Assistant

In the end, I suggest that if you are totally into dropshipping business then hire a Virtual Assistant from Fiverr or Upwork. They can make business easy for you. Because you can handle most of the tasks to him that are not very important. 

Your main focus should be on Product Hunting and Marketing of your Store. These two are the keys to get success in Dropshipping.
